The Chestnuts Hotel is a family run hotel, 2 minutes from Ayr's beautiful seafront, and less than a mile from Ayr Town Centre and two of the many public golf courses in the area. We offer 14 comfortable en-suite rooms and have an excellent reputation for bar meals, using fresh Ayrshire produce, cooked to order.

Extensive lunch and supper menus are served 7 days a week in the Lounge Bar, Restaurant or Beer Garden and with friendly service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, we can make your stay with us, however short or long - a memorable one.

The Chestnuts Bar, "The 19th Hole", which offers many real ales, fine wines and Malt Whiskies isthe focal point of the Hotel and is very popular with locals and tourists. The theme is based on a selection of Golf Prints amd Memorabilia from courses, old and new, around Scotland. It offers discreet seating around a cosy log fire and features a high pitched ceiling which hosts a record breaking collection of whisky water jugs.


We are 5 miles from Glasgow Prestwick Airport, and less than a mile from Ayr Railway Station, offering easy access to various destinations including Glasgow and Stranraer.

Ayr itself, boasts numerous parks and walks, small animal corners and a farm park. There are tennis courts/clubs, many leisure clubs, Ayr Rugby Club, Ayr United Football Club and Ayr Cricket Club. Golf is a big attraction to the Ayrshire coast - with 8 municipal courses in and around Ayr and championship courses at Belleisle (Ayr), Troon and Turnberry.

The River Doon - famous for its excellent salmon fishing - is to the south of Ayr. There is also a fishery where rods can be hired at Dalrymple 7 miles from Ayr.

Ayr Races take place every month with 2 feature meetings - the Scottish Grand National held in April, and the Gold Cup held in September. In the same area is Ayr's Greyhound Track.

Ayr has many restaurants, bars, night-clubs and ten-pin bowling. There are theatres, a cinema and the Citadel Leisure centre with swimming pools, flumes, gymnasiums and conference facilities.
